Washing your bed sheets regularly is a standard procedure. But what about your mattress cover? Can you even remember the last time you washed yours …?
We answer some common questions, including how often you should wash your mattress cover or pad, how to do it and when to replace it.
Get ready for a fresh night’s sleep…
How Often Should You Wash Your Mattress Pad?
Ideally, you should wash it every time you change the sheets. But even with our easy zip, machine washable covers we understand that this chore can prove a bit too much on a weekly basis.
As a result, we suggest washing your mattress cover once a month. However, if your hectic lifestyle doesn’t accommodate this, aim for once every 2 or 3 months. Many people forget to wash their mattress cover at all so getting into some sort of routine is a step in the right direction.
Why is it Important to Wash Your Mattress Protector?
Making the effort to wash your mattress cover every month or so:
1) Maintains a clean and hygienic sleeping space
2) Protects your mattress interior from wear and tear
3) Maximises the life of your mattress
Washing your cover is particularly important if you suffer from allergies, as dead skin cells and dust mites can gather in the fibres over time. Regularly washing bed linens and mattress covers can help to keep them at bay.
Better yet, the compact interior of a memory foam mattress works as a barrier against dust and small creatures, providing a hygienic sleeping surface.
Can you Wash a Memory Foam Mattress Cover?
All of our memory foam mattress covers are machine washable at 30 degrees to help keep them fresher for longer. The Coolmax cover features a zip for easy removal.
Washing Instructions
No need for dry cleaning! To wash your cover, simply unzip and pop in the washing machine at 30 degrees. Dry naturally, do not tumble dry.
If you just want to remove a stain (from a drink spillage, body oils or similar) try using a gently warm water and soap solution and scrub. Or for tougher stains, baking soda can help.

How Often Should you Change Your Mattress Pad?
Even the best mattress covers don’t last a lifetime. The lifespan of your mattress cover will vary depending on the quality and how well it’s cared for.
As a rule of thumb, we’d recommend upgrading your mattress cover if you start to notice lumps, tears or large stains you can’t get out.
It’s also handy having a spare to use between washes!
