Can a mattress topper make a bad mattress good?

Posted on

A mattress topper is a great way to add new life and comfort to a tired mattress. However it’s important to note that a topper will not fix a bad mattress. Your existing mattress must be in fairly good condition, without tears lumps or sags, for a topper to have a beneficial impact upon your sleep.

Do I need a topper or a new mattress?

Consider the following points to decide if you need a memory foam mattress topper or to buy a new mattress altogether.

When a Topper Is The Answer

If your mattress is in fairly good condition, but isn’t quite as comfortable as it once was then a mattress topper could be the answer. A Memory Foam Mattress Topper is the perfect way to add a little luxury to your mattress – and a cost-effective way to extend the lifespan of your mattress.

When a Topper Isn’t The Answer

It seems that many of us grow attached to our mattresses – probably because we spend so much time on them. But an old unsupportive mattress can have serious health implications and can cause back pain, muscular aches, sleep deprivation and other conditions. If any of the following are true about your mattress, then it’s time to let go:

  • Lumpy, uneven surface
  • Exposed springs/ interior
  • Dipping or sagging

Memory Foam Mattress Toppers

Memory Foam Mattress Toppers are a brilliant choice. They’re supportive, comfortable and durable – just like a memory foam mattress, the foam moulds to the contours of your body and ensures you sleep peacefully every night.

We have a range of memory foam mattress toppers available to suit all budgets. The three main things you need to decide when choosing a topper are:

Foam Density: the higher the density the more supportive the topper. We stock 45kg/m3, 60kg/m3 and 75kg/m3

Topper Depth: the deeper the topper the more comfortable and luxurious. We offer 5cm, 7.5cm and 10cm

Cover: We offer budget mattress toppers without a cover, or temperature-regulating mattress toppers if you often feel too warm in the night

How To Use a Mattress Topper

1. Remove all bedding from your mattress, including mattress protectors

2. Place your Mattress Topper directly on top of your mattress, ensuring there is no overhang. An overly large topper can become quickly damaged so make sure sits comfortably

3. If you have a mattress protector, fit this over the mattress and mattress topper

4. Remake your bed as normal

5. Nap
