A Guide to Finding Your Mattress

To offer you the best shopping experience, we have tried to make it as easy as possible for you to navigate our site and find the right mattress for you. This is why we have provided extensive filter options so that you can narrow your search down by size, price and various mattress specifications, offering a simple and efficient way of searching through our products.

On every category page you will see a number of filter options to the left hand side. Using these filter options can help you narrow down your choice. We appreciate that some of the options may be unfamiliar to you which is why we have created this page to help guide you through the filtering process.

With or without a price bracket selected, an important step, as we're sure you will agree, is to select your mattress size. We offer single, small double, double, king size, euro, and super king size mattresses.

    Firmness Rating

The feel of a mattress is a very personal thing. We offer a firmness rating as a guide to help our customers make a decision. If you have a particular preference on firmness, then you can narrow your results by firmness. As we said, it's all down to personal choice, however if you suffer with any back problems then we would recommend you choose a Medium Firm Mattress for the perfect level of comfort and support. For more information on choosing a firmness rating, you can visit How Does Firmness Affect Your Mattress?

    Mattress Type

At Memory Foam Warehouse we offer Memory Foam Mattresses as well as Pocket Sprung with Memory Foam, and Reflex Foam.

    • With a Memory Foam Mattress your body will be cradled by the foam and supported by the base.

    • With a Pocket Sprung Mattress, each spring supports each area of your body individually, which is also great if there is a significant weight difference between partners sharing a bed.

    • A Pocket Sprung Memory Foam Mattress offers a medium feel and has a little more spring to it than a full foam mattress.

    • A Reflex Foam Mattress will feel quite firm, and although still offering comfort and support, it won't offer the same high level of comfort and pressure relief that Memory Foam can offer. Reflex Foam Mattresses are a great option for those on a budget, or for use in guest bedrooms.

    Mattress Depth

A deeper mattress such as 25cm will offer a higher level of support, which is especially important for those of a heavier build or with musculoskeletal problems. Young children and light to average size adults on the other hand will be perfectly happy with a shallower depth mattress, such as 15cm – 20cm deep, dependent on personal choice.

    Memory Foam Layer Depth

The depth of the memory foam layer has an impact on the overall feel of the mattress, as well as the support and pressure relief that it offers. Although other factors are involved, generally the shallower the depth of the memory foam layer, the firmer the mattress will feel. A deep memory foam layer will provide the ultimate soft and luxurious feel and will allow the body to sink deeper in to the mattress without feeling the support base below. Again this is down to personal choice, although we do recommend that if you suffer with back pain or any musculoskeletal problems such as arthritis then you should be looking for a memory foam layer of 7cm or above to offer the best level of support and comfort.

We hope you have found this guide helpful, and you can now find your perfect mattress with ease. However if you would like any further information, please don't hesitate to contact our Sleep Experts with any questions you might have.
